Jose Conde has built himself quite the reputation in South Africa. His Stark-Conde brand is considered one of SA’s very best, and it helped him to earn countless awards for his Cabernet and white wines. The man is self-taught, a meticulous craftsman with a crazy work ethic that has helped propel him to the top of South Africa’s wine hierarchy.
He started MAN Family Wines with two of his best friends, brothers Tyrrel Myburgh and Philip Myburgh, and the trio came up with the idea for the name MAN using the first initial of each man’s wife (Marie, Anette, and Nicky).
The idea was to make wines that they enjoyed drinking and that anybody could afford. Easy enough, but thousands with similar ideas have tried and failed before them. Not these guys!

A slightly smoky, granitic expression with more of the fynbos, dried herbs and subtle reductive notes. The acidity is perceived only slowly, but builds in the mouth to a refreshing finale that is lemony, mineral and long.

The 2022 MAN is a winner. A light straw color, it leads with clean bursts of stone fruits, with some quince, Asian pear, and a little bit of green apple and jasmine that come in towards the end. Super fresh, great acid, perfect balance—this is the quintessential summer white wine!
