The Valnogal Roble wines is actually a new project started by the well-respect Finca la Capilla in the Ribera del Duero that they are keeping on the hush-hush. Flush with cash, they’re one of the few boutique wineries in the picturesque town of Roa de Duero that can make wines of this quality for this low of a price. When you can do what they do, all of your neighbors notice!
Here the weather is scorching hot for most of the year, and the grueling summers make the old native vines work hard – but this is when they are their best. Together, mixed with the clay, and limestone soil at the town’s highest altitude, vineyards that were planted hundreds of years ago, everything here is done by hand, parcel by parcel and the tiny red berry clusters come back absolutely bursting with red berry flavors.
The meticulous care of the vineyards and the rigorous selection of the grapes themselves result in one of the best wines in the Ribera. But at these prices, they go toe to toe with the best Rioja values.
