97 Points, James Suckling
Very perfumed with flowers and sandalwood. Medium- to full-bodied with very fine tannins that are so long and intense. This will compete with top Brunellos. Linear and driven at the end.

Castello di Bossi’s “Berardo” CC Riserva is a 97-point supernova. The 2020 vintage in Tuscany was very strong – with a 94-point rating from Wine Spectator for wines they described as “fleshy, fruit-filled reds.”

James Suckling had the most expansive coverage of Chianti in 2020, tasting nearly 200 different CC Riservas alone! He went all-in on the vintage, bestowing 93 points or more to over 40 wines with 16 wines scoring 94 points or higher.

But Castello di Bossi and their Berardo Chianti Classico outpaced everybody and it wasn’t even close! This sleek, drop-dead gorgeous bottling earned 97 points, two points more than bottles four and five times their price and the 2nd highest score EVER given to a Chianti Riserva!
