Henri Champliau Brut Authentique Cremant de Bourgogne NV

The Highest Rated Cremant Ever at the Decanter Wine Awards

96 Points, Decanter

I’m telling you, if you like Bubbly, especially the kind that hits way above its weight-class, this is one you need to have. The wine, 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay is traditionally made like Champagne. Even with some of the best quality wine growers in Burgundy, Champliau chooses only 30% of the grapes for this luxury cuvee. Unsurprisingly, it’s a show-stopper – a bright, dry-but-fruity, wonderfully concentrated treat that remains light on its feet despite so much personality. This recently got a 96 point score at Decanter’s Wine Awards, the highest ever rating for a Cremant.

Original price was: $30.00.Current price is: $25.00.

Intense citrus, peach, custard apple and toasted brioche aromas with a lush, creamy textured mousse and a mouthwateringly vibrant acidity. Long, crisp, zesty and luxurious.

Henri Champliau is a family-owned sparkling wine producer in Mercurey owned and run by Alexandre Graffard and located right in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise region of Burgundy. Though they’ve only been around since 2016, they are absolutely one of hotter wineries in Burgundy, with a reputation for already making some of the very best Cremants in France.

What makes them unique is that they do their own negociant work – cutting out the middleman and having direct access to a plethora of high-quality grapes. They source from a total of 30 hectares of vineyards that are dedicated to making base wines for high-quality sparkling wines. Despite his growers’ commitment, Alexandre still rejects up to two-thirds of the grapes offered.

It’s the perfectionist in him that has pushed Alexandre to the top of the ranks so quickly, and why he recently made history at the prestigious Decanter Wine Awards.
