Wente Vineyards Louis Mel Sauvignon Blanc Central Coast 2023

90 Points, Wine Enthusiast

Truth be told, I actually tasted this wine in a Wente tasting that included the Wetmore Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. While that wine ended up being an offer for us, this is just a Sauvignon Blanc home run value that I would be crazy not to bring to your attention. It’s so smooth and tasty – led by notes of honeydew, stone fruits and some tropical zest. At today’s price – it’s as good of a California white wine value as you’re going to find.

Original price was: $22.00.Current price is: $15.95.

“Subtle aromas of lemon peel, lime zest and cut grass make for a pleasantly refreshing nose on this bottling. The palate is mellow in texture and pleasing in flavors, offering nectarine and pear elements.”

Wente Vineyards isn’t just another winery. The place is a straight-up institution. Founded in 1883, it’s the country’s longest continuously family-owned and operated winery. We’re talking five generations of unparalleled winemaking passion.

The Wente’s take the term pioneering to a new level. Back in 1912, Ernest Wente, the founder’s son, had a hunch. He imported Chardonnay cuttings from France and started tinkering. The result? The ‘Wente Clone’ – a game-changer that now forms the basis of over 75% of all California Chardonnay. Talk about leaving a legacy!
