93 Points, Wine Spectator
This red exudes cherry, raspberry, rose, iron and sweet spice aromas and flavors. Smooth and fairly open, with a dense base of tannins and lively acidity for support. Offers excellent balance and length. Best from 2024 through 2038.
The Cecchi family has been in the wine business since the late 1800’s ever since Luigi Cecchi started a business as a wine broker. Greeted by early success, the family reputation grew and grew well beyond the family’s home region of Siena until it became a household name in Italian wine circles.
That rock-solid reputation throughout the country was built by forging ahead with new opportunities and constantly adding to their fleet of wines. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the family expanded their holdings considerably, looking to the future by buying properties in Tuscany and Umbria and upping their cellar-aging capacity.
The Cecchi’s would also make a key move into the borough of Castellina in Chianti – an area long known for making some of the very best classically produced Chianti Classicos out there. That has proven pivotal for the family’s recent success.
