95 Points, Decanter
An exceptional vintage, higher in fresh acidities that the 2009 but no drop in generosity, accentuating the juice running through the rich black fruits. Plenty of tannic grip, with tobacco, cigar box, spice and smoked earth. Uncurls and deepens after an hour in the glass. You will find 2010 classified Bordeaux wines that are more closed than this, and in fact this Prieuré is relatively similar in profile to the 2009, more so than at many estates where the 2010 is far more severe – something that makes this a great choice for drinking now and over the next decade without worrying that you are missing out on its best moments.
94 Points, James Suckling
Aromas of blueberries and blackberries with hints of sliced mushroom. Full and round with chewy tannins. Give this four or five years to soften. Tight and structured.
The gravelly, limestone soils of Margaux are home to some of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon based blends in the world. Roots dig deep here, allowing for great extraction of minerality and complexity from this hallowed ground.
Château Prieure-Lichine is a prestigious estate located in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux. It was originally classified as a Fourth Growth in the famed 1855 Bordeaux Classification, but is widely known for exceeding those expectations and making wines that embody the elegance and finesse characteristic of Margaux.
The estate boasts a rich history dating back to the 17th century but it is the last 15-20 years that the Chateau has recently elevated the quality of their wines by collaborating with the renowned wine consultant, Stéphane Derenoncourt. That work culminated in the 2010 vintage that is absolutely sensational and just starting to enter its drinking prime.
