Domaine de Vavril Cote de Brouilly 2023

The old vines that make up the 10.5 hectare of Domaine Vavril in southern Burgundy grow in chalky granitic, sandy soil. It’s part of what make these wines so complex and expressive. This is Cru Beaujolais at its finest and amazingly, it comes from a mere one and half hectare of vines on a hillside in Côte-de-Brouilly. The area covers a dormant volcano called Mont Brouilly with vines there between 50 and 60 years old. Winemaker Jean-Luc Ducruix’s Red Burgundy gives you everything you want – crunchy red fruit, tons of young energy and tons of layers of red berry flavors and depth. A magnificent value.
