The 2015 Napanook, the second wine from the illustrious Dominus Estate is an absolute beauty at this stage of its cycle especially. It offers a beautiful expression of an exceptional vintage. Pure aromas of fresh strawberry, caramel and minty sage fill the nose. Vigorous and rich with firm, yet integrated tannins, the wine offers earthy complexity, dark cocoa and roasted almonds on a long lingering finish.

This is fantastic on the nose with blackberries and forest flowers. Very aromatic. Full body with soft, well-integrated and medium-grained tannins. Undertones of black olives. Love the hints of sandalwood. Drink or hold.

94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
Brought up in 20% new barrels, the 2015 Napanook is an awesome wine in its own right, offering classic cassis, tobacco, leafy herbs, and violets notes, with an almost Bordeaux-like earthiness. Full-bodied, incredibly pure and seamless on the palate as well as impeccably balanced, it’s more than worth your time and money.

Dominus Estate is iconic, cult winery located in Napa Valley, California. Renowned for its exceptional Bordeaux-style reds from the brilliant Christian Morieux, Dominus has gained international acclaim for its quality and complexity.

The estate’s flagship wine, simply named “Dominus,” is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, showcasing the best of Napa Valley’s terroir. Napanook is the prestigiouis second label that puts most first labels to shame – especially in great vintages like 2015.

This wine offers a more approachable and fruit-forward style compared to the flagship Dominus. While it shares similar grape varieties, Napanook often exhibits a more youthful and vibrant character. In 2015, it’s nearly all Cabernet Sauvignon, giving it even more power and depth than usual.
