Boisterous notes of juicy plum, dark cherry and blackberry fruit. A great nose of leather, cedar and sage aromas with a backbone that keeps the wine lifted and bright. With silky smooth tannins and impressive dark fruit, this an ideal Napa Valley Cabernet, especially for the price. In the exciting new 2022 vintage, this bad boy comes attached to a big-time review and score.

“Richly appointed, with dark blue and purple fruit and a plush mouthfeel. Notes of plum liqueur and freshly roasted coffee grace the palate as dark chocolate and anise entwine with the wine’s well-defined structure and satin-lined tannins. Spiced red tea and sandalwood engage with more chocolate on the finish.”
Far Niente has achieved everything a winery sets out to accomplish between its Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel single vineyard bottlings. Wine Enthusiast recently called Nickel & Nickel “the leader of single vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet,” a statement which is hardly refutable.
Together, they represent the best of each vintage in Napa Valley, though at price tags that are understandably high. The regular cab will set you back $150– if you could ever get your hands on it, and the Nickel and Nickel single-vineyard wines will also now set you back three figures.
However, I’m most excited about the latest Cabernet project by team Far Niente – an unassuming offering called Post & Beam. From the same vineyard sources, winemaking facilities and winemakers of the famed Napa winery, the Post & Beam is a Cabernet Sauvignon that’s meant to be enjoyed in its youth.
Drawn from select younger parcels from their Oakville and Coombsville sites in their impressive vineyard collection, the 2022 Post & Beam is an absolute showstopper at a crazy good price.
