The winemaking team at Faust is ridiculous. Similar to the team at Quintessa (Michel Rolland/Andy Erickson) minus Rebekah Wineburg but with Charles Thomas (Opus One) and David Jelinek (Copain/Prisoner/Groth). The vineyard source out of this world – a little slice of heaven on the foothills of Atlas Peak in Coombsville. The wine is aged and bottled at Quintessa’s state-of-the-art winemaking facility.

So many graphite and pencil shaving aromas here with blue fruits. Slate and tar undertones. Black and red currants. Some ash. Medium-bodied with open grained tannins. So much iron and rust with lead and mussel shell. Then turns to pine cone and cedar. Really complex and flavor intensive. Love to drink it now as a young wine. This evolves all the time.

Blackberry, blackcurrant, graphite and tar aromas. Crushed stone, too. Full-bodied, yet firm, fresh and bright with a creamy, crunchy finish. One of the best values in Napa appellation designated reds. Drink or hold

Two exceptional Faust Cabs – one a 97-pointer from the superb 2021 vintage, and one a soon-to-be-reviewed Napa Valley stunner from the killer new 2022 vintage. Three bottles of the 2022 Faust Napa Valley Cabernet and one bottle of the flagship 97-pointer, ‘The Pact’ Napa Valley 2021 (it’s highest score to date). This comes from 2/3 of the winemaking team at Quintessa, using the same vineyard sources and the same state-of-the-art wine production facility. The last of the four offers in this series is definitely the sweetest. $340 is the retail price for the 4-pack. But for a short while (until sell out), 30% OFF that or just $240. If you’re after a Napa Valley Cab bargain, four super highly rated bottles at this price is just silly.
