This is a sophisticated and vibrant Sangiovese with great intensity right out of the gates. It was described by James Suckling in his 92-point review as “A well-rounded, balanced and seductive Riserva” and he’s right – this is a crowd-pleaser that flexes it’s silky smooth red and black fruit with a hint of spice and pulls you in with waves of freshness and harmony. This one is already incredibly approachable in its youth with a persistent finish that is both memorable and well-balanced but I think it has another 3-5 years ahead of it where it might become even better.

Frescobaldi’s story is one that is very closely connected with the history of Tuscany. Sitting just outside of Florence at the high point of the medieval old-town, the Frescobaldis were previous patrons of major works in Florence, such as Santa Trinita Bridge and the Basilica of Santo Spirito.
For the last 700 years, they’ve been growing wine in Tuscany. Slowly and carefully they have purchased estates which have given them access to all sorts of terroir throughout some of the most prime locations in all of Tuscany.
With properties along the hills of Montalcino, throughout Nipozzano to the hidden gem of Castello Pomino all the way up to Tenuta Ammiraglia by the sea and Tenuta Perano in the heart of Chianti Classico, the wines made here all tell profoundly different stories.
