94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
From the far Sonoma Coast, the 2022 Pinot Noir Land’s Edge Vineyards was aged for 9 months in 32% new French oak barrels. In the glass, it displays a medium ruby color and offers expressive notes of red berries, cranberries, and juniper. There’s a good bit of reduction initially that benefits from a little air at this stage, but it starts to reveal darker notes as it opens, so I would recommend decanting if opening it on the young side. The palate has a wonderful, compact feel, with refreshing lift, fine tannins, and a snappy finish. I personally enjoy the bright and coiled energy that comes through in this one.

MORE INFO
When it comes to Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, few names command as much respect in wine circles as Hartford Court. This isn’t just another California winery – it’s an institution that has consistently produced some of the most sought-after single-vineyard Pinots and Chardonnays in America.
The story of Hartford’s meteoric rise reads like a winemaking fairy tale. Founded in 1993, they were serving their wines at the White House within just four years. Robert Parker quickly declared them among “the upper echelon of Pinot Noir producers in Northern California,” and their trophy case has been expanding ever since.
The Hartford Court secret sauce relates to their belief that difficult vineyard sites produce wines of unmatched personality and depth. This approach has earned them a staggering collection of 95+ point scores and placements on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list year after year.
