The Moreau family has been involved in winemaking in Chablis for generations. While the “J. Moreau & Fils” name as a business likely solidified later in the 19th century, the family’s involvement in viticulture and winemaking in the area predates this. This is important because it means they had deep local knowledge and experience even before the official founding of the négociant house.
J Moreau et Fils has been a staple 1814, when a young cooper married into one of Chablis’ oldest wine families. While they’re famous for their Chablis, what they’ve done here in Saint-Bris is absolutely electric. It’s the only place in all of Burgundy where Sauvignon Blanc isn’t just allowed but celebrated – and for good reason.
