Many moons ago, I picked us out an incredible barrel of Jefferson’s Reserve Very Old Bourbon. Oh my god is the juice here good. I’m not sure exactly how many single barrels of ‘Very Old Very Small Batch’ we’ve done, but I know in total we’ve done 11 barrels from Jefferson’s as they are one of my favorites. Here’s where my 11th barrel went awry:
After patiently waiting a few months for my barrel to arrive in Red Bank, I picked up a bottle from one of the boxes and stared perplexed at a big-time error looking me right in the face.
“Nicolas Barrel Reserve” Huh?!? Was I dreaming?!? What the heck happened to the H in my name?!?
I called up my buddies in Kentucky who were mortified. “Nicholas, I can’t believe this happened. I’m so sorry. We are working with our design team but we think we might be able to relabel this for you in a few weeks.” When I told them I couldn’t have all the bottles in my warehouse without being able to sell them, they conceded they weren’t sure what to do to make it right.
That’s when I offered “Well gentlemen…how much does an H cost?”
