Kentucky Owl is a premium Bourbon brand with roots that date all the way back to 1879 when Charles Mortimer Dedman founded the C.M. Dedman Distillery in Kentucky. Their bourbon was known as “The Wise Man’s Bourbon” until Prohibition forced the distillery to close.
In 2014, Dixon Dedman, Charles Mortimer Dedman’s great-great-grandson, revived the Kentucky Owl brand. Initially, he focused on sourcing and blending existing bourbons to create unique expressions. He spared no expense to pry away Master Blender John Rhea, who is known for his exceptional small-batch whiskey. These sought-after bourbons, known for their artistry and quality, have become a sensation, often selling out quickly through word-of-mouth alone.
Batch #11 is a particularly special blend, featuring a selection of robust, well-aged bourbons ranging from six to fourteen years old. Bottled at a potent 118.8 proof (59.4% ABV), this batch offers a complex sensory experience. The aroma begins with a lively tingle from the rye content of the blended bourbons, complemented by smooth notes of caramel and vanilla, culminating in a gentle hint of chocolate, vanilla, and oak.
