#1, Top 100 Best Buys of 2024, Wine Enthusiast
“What an aromatic roller-coaster ride. The first sniff of the glass yields bright red cherries and orange zest. Then you get a burst of roasted red peppers, followed by a shot of espresso. Restrained acidity and velvety tannins accompany raspberry, smoked cherry and earthy oregano flavors. Great value here.”
King Estate Pinot Noir Inscription Willamette Valley 2022
#1, Wine Enthusiast (Top 100 Best Buys of 2024)
The ‘Inscription’ project started a few years ago as a way for the King Estate to blend their own estate fruit from Southern Willamette with a few top vineyards in the north. The result is a knocked out Pinot Noir cuvee that King is able to make at a staggeringly good price.
The quality to price ratio is way off here, but I’m not complaining. Don’t believe me? Wine Enthusiast just released their Top 100 ‘Best Buy’s of 2024 and this beauty took home the #1 spot. Not for Pinot Noir, for everything!!!

MORE INFO
King Estate is an Oregon staple and has been a major player in the Willamette Valley since the early 1990s. Today, it is home to the largest biodynamic vineyard in North America, and the wines being made off this are some of the highest Pinot Noir quality anywhere.
When they were first starting out, Ed King, Jr. took a gamble by deciding to be so far down the valley. Places like Erath, Sokol Blosser, Ponzi and Arteberry Maresh were turning heads further north in the Willamette, and besides Amity Vineyards, not much was planted in the south near Eugene.
But Ed’s vision never wavered and he ultimately turned a 600-acre cattle ranch with just 16 planted acres into what would become hundreds and hundreds of rolling vineyards of King Estate.
Fast forward to present day and King Estate is one of Oregon’s biggest and best wineries. With so many planted acres, and unwavering dedication to the land, there’s a lot of possibilities for the winery that aren’t there for their neighbors. ‘Inscription’ is the perfect example.
