MacRostie Estate Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2022

First founded in 1987 by Steve MacRostie, this estate is actually the most decorated winery in all of California(!!) since its founding – having now earned more than 500 scores of 90 points or higher from the world’s biggest wine publications. There’s a pretty good reason for all those big scores too.

Their dedication to farming and vineyard health doesn’t just emphatically help their own three Estate vineyards, but it has earned them immense respect throughout the entire state. Steve’s winemaking prowess plus his love for the land, along with winemaker Heidi Bridenhagen has blossomed amazing relationships with other elite winegrowers, families like the Duttons, Marttinellis and Sangiacomos.

MacRostie makes this gorgeous 2022 Chard with fruit from Sangiacomo, Ricci, Dutton, and Martinelli Vineyards – some of the best in the business in the Russian River Valley, especially for elegant, dense Chardonnays with multiple layers.

The 2022 Macrostie Chardonnay earned two 93-point reviews. Both from The Tasting Panel’s Master of Wine, who described this as “Ultra-elegant and nuanced yet highly expressive style; ample weight on the palate; and bright underlying acidity with well-integrated, high-quality oak.” 93 more from Wine Enthusiast who called it “Big, yet balanced.”
