93 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate
Deep ruby, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Sentinel comes from the Monte Rosso Vineyard (87%) and Stagecoach Vineyard (13%) and was matured for 19 months. Its cassis core is accented by touches of blackcurrant bud, vanilla and cigar wrappers on the nose. The palate is full-bodied, powerful and ripe, with grainy tannins, soft acidity and a long finish laced with sweet baking spices.
*Pre-Arrival: The wine is on its way in a temperature-controlled truck from California and will be available to ship the first week of March.
Mount Peak Winery is located high in the Mayacamas mountain range – a gorgeous little slice of heaven that straddles both Napa and Sonoma Valley. The winery is known for its three distinct wines: Sentinel Cabernet Sauvignon, Rattlesnake Zinfandel, and Gravity Red Blend.
The story began more than a century ago at the celebrated Monte Rosso Vineyard and culminates with the revival of Mount Peak Winery, a vestige of one of California’s ghost wineries. The original winery was actually built back in 1886 but was forced to close with the start of Prohibition in 1920. Decades later, it was revived from the original foundations and turned into a modern marvel that captures the storied legacy.
As they prepare for the big 2021 and 2022 Cabernet releases, a one-time price became available only for a few hours/days. In the interest in spreading something crazy rare and special, I’m asking that everyone please limit their orders to no more than two cases per person. Thank you!
