Rose gold in color, this rosé is refreshing with a nose and palate of fresh ripe summer fruits. Find mouthwatering notes of ripe peaches, watermelon, crushed stones and a saline finish. An elegant selection to enjoy now.

A bit lighter-hued for the appellation (but still a reasonably dark rosé), Prieure de Montezargues’s 2022 Tavel is about half Grenache, with the rest a mix of Cinsault, Clairette, Mourvèdre and Syrah. It’s full-bodied, plump and generous in the mouth, showing ample gras but underscored by a sense of stony austerity that gives the wine backbone and causes the flavors to linger elegantly on the finish.
92 Points, James Suckling
A succulent, serious and well-weighted rosé made of grenache (blanc, gris and noir), cinsault, syrah and clairette. Aromas of small berries, apricots and mild spices. Medium-bodied with a dense core and texture at the center. There is volume and purity here, with a precise finish. Refreshing. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
Prieuré de Montézargues is a historic estate with roots dating back to the 12th century, when it was founded as a monastery. Nestled in the heart of Tavel, the appellation renowned as the birthplace of rosé wines, this venerable domain has been at the forefront of quality rosé production for centuries. The estate’s 33 hectares of vineyards are spread across the appellation’s characteristic terroir of sandy-clay soils covered with the famous galets roulés, or rounded pebbles, that are emblematic of the southern Rhône.
In recent years, Prieuré de Montézargues has undergone a renaissance under the ownership of Richard Maby, a highly touted figure in the Rhône wine scene. Maby has implemented a series of improvements, including a transition to organic certified viticulture in 2016. This commitment to sustainability and terroir expression has elevated the already high quality of the estate’s wines, earning them increased recognition from critics and wine lovers alike.
The rosés of Prieuré de Montézargues are a testament to the unique character of Tavel. Unlike many modern, pale rosés, these wines are known for their deeper color, fuller body, and complex flavor profiles. They typically blend several grape varieties, including Grenache, Cinsault, Clairette, and Mourvèdre, each contributing to the wine’s depth and complexity.
