#10 Wine of the Year, Wine Spectator (94 Points)
Oozing with character, this succulent and mouthwatering white offers a fleshy, juicy mix of perfectly ripe peach, mango and lemon bar flavors, with fresh herbal accents of lemon verbena and vetiver. Offers accents of freshly grated ginger, tangerine and crunchy sea salt on the finish. Drink now through 2036.

92 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2022 Chardonnay Russian River Valley has inviting scents of yellow apples, allspice, toast and flint. The light-bodied palate strikes a balance of ripe fruit and spicy oak. Its satiny texture is tempered by lively acidity, and it has a long, flavorful finish.

This is such a rare treat that I get to bring you today. David Ramey – one of America’s greatest winemaking heroes and his newest trip to Wine Spectator’s Top 10 list.

David Ramey is a straight-up pioneer in Californian winemaking and is often called “Professor Chardonnay” due to his groundbreaking work with this grape. He introduced innovative techniques like using indigenous yeasts and sur lie aging, resulting in richer, smoother Chardonnays and has seen some of the highest scores ever awarded to American white wines.

Ramey’s journey began at UC Davis and continued with experiences in France, notably at Château Pétrus. He later led winemaking at prestigious California wineries like Matanzas Creek, Chalk Hill, Dominus Estate, and Rudd Estate. At his namesake vineayrd, he’s able to lean on his decades of experience making some of the world’s best wine and focus all of his efforts on his own wines – creating magical bottlings year after year.
