Rich floral and fruit aromas come off the nose of this wine, with black cherry, violets and rose petals plus stony notes of pavement and crushed rock. The palate brings an edge. A savory blend of spices, soil and a hint of balsamic vinegar push against more berries. Tannins are substantial and chewy, and acid kicks back.
The Tasca family has been an integral part of the Sicilian wine scene for generations and is considered by many to be one of its biggest champions. They were the very first producer to market their wines with ‘Sicily’ proudly stated on the label at a time when winemakers thought that ‘Italian table wine’ would be better received.
But the Tasca family had a really good feeling about the special soil that lay beneath their vines. So even when others told them there was nothing to their vision, they forged ahead and overcame every obstacle that got in their way.
The Tascas have owned the Regaleali Estate since 1837. The gorgeous, sprawling estate had become like a giant sandbox for the family to experiment with ancient vines and indigenous varietals under the watchful eye of superstar winemaker Ezio Rivella who made wine until 2023 when he unfortunately passed away.
