Yalumba Samuel’s Collection Barossa Shiraz 2022

94 Points, Decanter – 92 Points, James Suckling

The 2022 Samuel’s Collection Shiraz is absolutely singing right now. Decanter dropped a beautiful 94-point score on it, praising its “lifted and bright” profile with “plum and spice” notes that’ll drink beautifully for over a decade. James Suckling backed that up with 92 points, noting its “ripe and dark-fruited” character and “polished texture.”

But what really grabbed me is how this wine over-delivers at every turn. It’s got that classic Barossa Valley intensity that Yalumba has mastered over their 175-year history, but with a refinement that you typically find in bottles twice or three times the price.

Original price was: $26.00.Current price is: $19.99.

94 Points, Decanter
Lifted and bright, with a nose of plum and spice, palate of dark berry, black pepper, cinnamon and salty liquorice. Drink now thru 2035

92 Points, James Suckling
Ripe and dark-fruited cooking spices, roasted peppercorns and earthy undertones. Full-bodied, dry and firm with polished texture. Structured and a little chewy at the end with cedary and walnuty notes and a lingering, spiced finish.

The Yalumba estate in Australia is easily one of the most iconic wineries in all of Australia, if not the Southern Hemisphere. They’re a family-owned winery that’s been around since the mid 1800s. They’ve long since established themselves as THE major player in a wine region that wouldn’t be ready for the international stage until nearly a century later.

During that time, Yalumba also led the way by embracing natural terroir to craft wines with purpose and unique character. Without that edge, the family would never have grown into the force they are today.

If you’ve never tried any of these wines, I absolutely implore you to do so. They deserve your time and attention
